Mindfulness-Based Relaxation
A guided practice to calm the mind, reduce stress and restore balance through breathwork, awareness and present-moment grounding.
A guided half hour, led by a psychologist, using breathwork, attention and grounding to settle a system that's been running hot.
This is a practice session rather than a talking one. You're not expected to explain anything or work through your history — you're being taken through techniques properly, with someone watching how you respond and adjusting as you go.
Most people who try this on their own from a video give up because something felt uncomfortable and there was nobody to ask. That's the difference here.
Who this is for
- You're tense most of the time and can't switch it off deliberately
- You've tried meditation apps and it hasn't taken
- You want to learn the techniques properly before practising alone
- You'd rather start with something practical than with talking
What happens in a session
- 1
A short check-in on how your body and mind are today
- 2
Your psychologist guides you through breathwork suited to how you're presenting
- 3
You move into an attention or grounding practice, at your pace
- 4
The session closes with what to practise and how often
What you might take from it
- A settled body for the rest of the day
- Techniques you can actually use without guidance
- Understanding of why a particular practice suits you and another doesn't
- A realistic sense of how often to practise for it to matter
Good to know
This is a supportive practice, not a treatment for a diagnosed condition, and it works best alongside therapy rather than instead of it. If you have a trauma history, some breathwork and body-attention practices can be activating — tell your psychologist beforehand and the session will be adapted.
