Emotional First Aid Kit

A short, practical session for managing overwhelming emotions in the moment — self-soothing, grounding and coping strategies you can keep using.

All services

A short, practical session for managing emotions that arrive faster than you can think — panic, anger, spirals, the moments where you know what you should do and can't reach it.

The focus is on what to do in the moment rather than where it comes from. You leave with specific things to use, chosen for how you actually respond, not a generic list.

Think of it as being shown how to use the equipment before you need it.

Who this is for

  • Strong feelings arrive suddenly and you have no way to interrupt them
  • You know the theory and can't access it when it matters
  • You want practical tools before starting deeper work
  • Something difficult is coming up and you'd like to be prepared for it

What happens in a session

  1. 1

You describe what these moments look and feel like for you specifically

  2. 2

Your psychologist identifies where in the sequence there's room to intervene

  3. 3

You're taken through two or three techniques matched to that point

  4. 4

You practise them in the session, so they're familiar when you need them

What you might take from it

  • Two or three techniques that fit how you actually respond
  • A sense of where the intervention point is in your own pattern
  • Something concrete to do instead of waiting it out
  • More confidence going into a situation you've been dreading

Good to know

These are coping strategies for difficult moments, not treatment for what's causing them — if these moments are frequent, that's worth addressing properly in ongoing sessions. This is not an emergency service and can't be booked at short notice for a crisis; for that, call Tele-MANAS on 14416.
